About JJ Angus Cattle Company

We are producers of high quality Angus beef, raised locally in southwest Michigan near Kalamazoo, MI. We do not use artificial growth hormones or maintenance antibiotics. We use good animal welfare practices to ensure the health and happiness of our cattle. JJ Angus grows our own feed for our cattle with the crops we raise so we know exactly what goes into our animals and our customers know exactly what they are getting in our products. We strive to achieve the highest quality in our animals and we understand that it takes many different pieces of the puzzle to make that happen. By combining good genetics, great nutrition and sound management, we produce high quality beef that we know you'll love!

No Artificial Grown Hormones

We do not use artificial growth hormones for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the consumer does not want animal products that were raised with artificial growth hormones. Secondly, we have strong commitment to a high quality beef with a high degree of marbling and using artificial growth hormones can comprise that.

No Maintenance Antibiotics

We do not put a daily dose in our feed ration to be used as regular maintenance. We feel it is not responsible to use antibiotics in a continuous manner because it leads to microbial resistance which leads to super bugs that are extremely difficult to kill. Using preventive practices to keep the animals healthy, they don't need routine maintenance antibiotics. We will use antibiotics to treat an animal only if we absolutely need to but it is extremely rare. If an animal needs treatment, then we will treat them to get them only until they are healthy again because, in our eyes, it's humane to treat a sick animal. Our treatment rate is less than 1%.
